Rockefeller
Each Sunday, instead
f working in the store,
my father went to our garage
and fetched from the tack
the black bag with his tie up
figure skates and drove
to the city to teach skating
at Rockefeller Center beneath
the nine-ton Christmas tree.
On a good day, he taught five
or six stars, like Paul Newman,
who gave him autographed photos
which scattered our basement walls,
until Mom had a clean-up day and tossed
all his memories into the Goodwill box.
Now Dad's memories hang
on the walls of people we never met,
people who have no clue.
