Roberto Niccola Palombi
Ojibwe Peninsula
On that peninsula
the tall pines remain,
no one guessing
why another cottage
has not taken root.
During the day
the Ojibwe sleep here-
one headstone,
a few rotted spirit houses.
During the night,
who knows?
But on cold mornings,
I still see their breath
hovering
over northern water.
